Keeping the carpet clean can be an annoying task. Traffic makes a mess, dirt is tracked in, and then those pesky stain spots appear. It’s easy to vacuum the dry dirt and lint, and you should vacuum on a routine basis. But what about those spots the vacuum will not touch?
Something sticky, a pet stain, or some type of food residue often causes stain spots. They are hard to remove. Stains can also be caused by improper attempts at removing a spot – a little soap residue creates a sticky area that attracts more dirt down the road.
For almost any stain, you should try Spot Shot. You will find it in a colorful blue and orange aerosol can in grocery, hardware and home goods stores. It is a solvent-based, totally clear cleaner that is great for carpet stains or even stains in clothing. It works for pet stains, greasy foods, oil, wine, coffee and lipstick.
To remove a stain, test in an inconspicuous area for colorfastness. Then spray Spot Shot on the stain. Gently blot with a clean, white absorbent cloth. If necessary, repeat. After the stain is gone, blot the area with a clean rag and water.
